Keeping your NOC account password strong and up to date is essential for security. This guide explains how to change your password from the dashboard and what to expect afterward.
Password Requirements
Your new password must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum 12 characters in length.
- At least one uppercase letter (A-Z).
- At least one lowercase letter (a-z).
- At least one number (0-9).
- At least one special character (e.g.,
!@#$%^&*).
We recommend using a password manager to generate and store a unique, random password.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Log in to the NOC Dashboard.
- Click your account name or avatar in the top-right corner of the navigation bar.
- Select Account Settings from the dropdown menu.
- Click the Security tab on the settings page.
- Under the Change Password section, enter your Current Password.
- Enter your New Password in the next field.
- Re-enter the new password in the Confirm New Password field.
- Click Update Password.
What Happens After You Change Your Password
- Current session: Your active browser session remains logged in. You do not need to re-authenticate immediately.
- Other sessions: All other active sessions (other browsers, devices, or API sessions using password-based auth) are invalidated. You will need to log in again on those devices.
- API keys: Existing API keys are not affected by a password change. They remain valid until you explicitly revoke them.
- Two-factor authentication: If 2FA is enabled, it remains active. You do not need to reconfigure it after a password change.
Forgot Your Password?
If you cannot log in to change your password:
- Go to the NOC login page.
- Click Forgot Password? below the login form.
- Enter the email address associated with your NOC account.
- Check your inbox for a password reset email. The link expires after 60 minutes.
- Click the reset link and enter a new password that meets the requirements above.
If you do not receive the email within a few minutes, check your spam folder. If the issue persists, contact support@noc.org.
Best Practices
- Change your password periodically, especially if you suspect unauthorized access.
- Never reuse passwords across multiple services.
- Enable two-factor authentication for an additional layer of security.
- Review your activity log regularly for any unrecognized login events.
