Network Solutions is one of the oldest domain registrars. Their interface can be less intuitive than newer registrars, so this guide provides detailed steps for changing your nameservers to NOC.
Before You Begin
- Add your domain to the NOC Dashboard and note the assigned nameservers (
ns1.noc.organdns2.noc.org). - Verify your DNS records are properly configured in NOC before making the switch.
- Have your Network Solutions account credentials ready.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Log in to your Network Solutions account.
- Click Account Manager or navigate to My Domain Names.
- If prompted, select the domain you want to manage from the domain list.
- Click Manage next to the domain name.
- Look for Domain Name Server (DNS) in the domain settings panel and click Manage or Edit.
- You may need to click Move DNS or Change Where Domain Points, depending on the interface version.
- Select the option to use custom nameservers (sometimes labeled "I'll manage my own DNS").
- Enter the NOC nameservers:
- Nameserver 1:
ns1.noc.org - Nameserver 2:
ns2.noc.org
- Nameserver 1:
- Remove any additional default nameservers from the form.
- Click Save or Apply Changes.
- Network Solutions may require you to confirm the change via an on-screen prompt. Click Confirm to finalize.
Propagation Time
Network Solutions nameserver changes typically take 2 to 8 hours to propagate, though full global propagation can take up to 48 hours. Network Solutions tends to be slower than some other registrars.
Verify the Change

Expected output:
ns1.noc.org.
ns2.noc.org.
Important Notes
- Account verification: Network Solutions may require additional identity verification (security question, email confirmation) before allowing nameserver changes.
- DNS hosting services: If you purchased Network Solutions' DNS hosting add-on, switching to custom nameservers will bypass it. You may want to cancel the add-on to avoid unnecessary charges.
- Protected Registration: If you have Protected Registration enabled, nameserver changes may be blocked. Contact Network Solutions support to temporarily disable it, or manage it through the Protected Registration portal.
Troubleshooting
- Cannot find DNS settings: Network Solutions occasionally reorganizes their interface. Look for sections labeled "DNS," "Nameservers," "Domain Forwarding," or "Where Domain Points."
- Changes not sticking: Clear your browser cache and retry. If the issue persists, contact Network Solutions support to confirm there are no account-level restrictions.
- Domain locked: Check the domain's Lock Status and disable it if necessary. Unlike some registrars, Network Solutions' domain lock can sometimes prevent nameserver changes.
- Slow propagation: If changes have not propagated after 48 hours, verify the nameserver entries were saved correctly by re-checking your Network Solutions dashboard.
